Snyder Elected to Council!

Jayne Snyder ran the half-marathon on Sunday, wearing a campaign T-shirt and shaking hands along the route.

Then afterward, she walked precincts.

Two days later, she ran away with the race for the Lincoln City Council, capturing 25 percent of the vote in her first shot at elective office.

The Lincoln Journal Star has endorsed Jayne Snyder for the May 5th General Election.

Jayne Snyder, 64, already has accomplished much for the residents of Lincoln.

She was one of the private investors who bought the railroad right-of-way for the MoPac Trail and then gave it to the Lower Platte South Natural Resource District after they solicited enough donations to pay off their debt and develop the trail.

Jayne Snyder, in her own words:

I was a junior high physical education teacher for about two years.

I was the first physical therapist at the University of Nebraska when women’s sports began to be a requirement at the university level.

In 1990, I decided to open my own practice. That same year I was elected president of all the physical therapists of Nebraska.

Mayor endorses Snyder for City Council

Not to be outdone by the governor’s Lincoln City Council endorsements earlier in the week, Mayor Chris Beutler on Friday endorsed his own choices for the council.

In a race that is becoming more partisan by the day, Beutler threw his support behind the only two Democrats in the race, Jayne Snyder and Gene Carroll.

LJS: Newcomer comes out on top in primary

A newcomer to city politics was in a “state of shock” Tuesday night after it became clear she led the pack of 10 people vying for three seats on the Lincoln City Council.

In unofficial primary election results, physical therapist Jayne Snyder finished first, with 21 percent of the votes.

The Lincoln Journal Star has endorsed Jayne Snyder for the April 7th Primary Election.

Jayne Snyder would bring welcome experience to the council on issues involving city parks and trails. She currently is a member of the boards of the Lincoln Park and Recreation Foundation and the Great Plains Trail Network.
