Jayne Snyder ran the half-marathon on Sunday, wearing a campaign T-shirt and shaking hands along the route.
Then afterward, she walked precincts.
Two days later, she ran away with the race for the Lincoln City Council, capturing 25 percent of the vote in her first shot at elective office.
“I’m pretty bushed today,” she said as election results rolled in at a Democratic victory party in a downtown bar. “I’m very, very pleased. I couldn’t help but win because I had such great volunteers.”
Snyder led the pack with 25 percent of the votes, followed by Hornung with 20 percent and Carroll with 18 percent. Svoboda garnered 17 percent of votes, and two other Republicans rounded out the field: Jane Kinsey with 10 percent and Terry Kubicek with 9 percent.
